Amy creates hand drawn illustrations of her mosaics as part of the design process. While studying at the London School of Mosaic she was taught the intricate rules of neo-classical andamento - the layout and flow of the tiles - which helps to create visual harmony in the finished mosaic. It's a process which Amy finds as satisfying as the mosaic making itself, and the finished drawings are artworks in their own right. 
 
Amy uses pencil, fine line pen and coloured pencil for the original drawings.
